When it comes to knives, there are so many companies today that are selling these kind of products but, there is one particular brand of knives that has the edge against its competitors especially when it comes to fame, reputation, trust and the quality of knives that this company has been giving and this brand is the Victorinox. This company has really been producing high quality knives for a very long time and their products have been used by so many people and is still being continuously used nowadays. In knowing more about the Victorinox, like any other companies, it also has its humble beginning that may also have lead them to where they are today.

The Victorinox, as what was mentioned before, is a manufacturer of knives which is located in a town at Ibach, in the Canton of Schwyz in Switzerland. On those times, they have been competing with their rival which is the Wenger in 2005 but, they still reclaimed their throne of being the main supplier of high quality knives for the Swiss Army. The Victorinox was actually founded in the year 1884 and they have produced knives for the Swiss Army since 1891. Their famous logo or emblem was being used eversince 1909. When the mother of Karl Elsener died, he came up with the company’s name which is “Victoria”. Karl Elsener was actually the founder of Victorinox. In the year of 1921, the term “inox”, which is the short term for stainless steel in French, has been introduced to their products and that’s when the company name Victorinox was made.

 

By the time of April 26, 2005, the Victorinox has adopted Wenger which is also a popular supplier of Swiss Army Knife and they intended run both these brands together. By the year of 2006, Victorinox had a manpower of approximately 900 employess and produced a stunning amount of 34,000 Swiss Army knives, 30,000 household knives and 38,000 multi-tools daily. In addition, 90% of their products have been exported to a lot of countries worldwide. In the present time, the Victorinox has companies that are being licensed shield logo and the brand of Swiss Army such as watches and clothings. The most common and popular product of Victorinox is the multi-purpose Swiss Army Knife itself because of the high quality of knives that they have been manufacturing. The Victorinox has received the crown as the Master of Swiss Army Knives and took over the Wenger company in 2005.

Today, this multi-purpose knife is being used by several people even outside the army because of the variety of functional tools that it offers and it also vary in sizes and styles nowadays. Even the NASA astronauts have been using Victorinox knives and making it as one of their standard equipment. These knives was also being brought to unexpected locations such as the Mt. Everest and the Arctic areas. One of the Victorinox model, which is known as the Champion or the Swisschamp, can be seen in the Modern Art Museum in New York as a Permanent Design Collection. Today, Victorinox still constantly upgrading and improving by making more variety of products such as kitchen cutlerym, SwissTools, Bayonet and many more. They still continue to make progression from what they have started and this will definitely lead them to a brighter future.
